The Prince's New Rug

The old man had warned the prince: "Hasniki's designs are intricate, and his craftsmanship is unsurpassed, but you never know what you're going to get with one of his carpets. Be very, very careful."

pen and ink. 10:39a-11:23.5 (took me until 11:35 to get it posted. Keep in mind that project 44.5 means I have to think of the idea, draw it, write about it, scan it, resize it, and post it all in 44.5 minutes. I failed today. But I'll get faster, just you wait!)

A goal you can reach perfectly the first time and every time is no goal at all. A goal is supposed to make you stretch. By the nature of it, you should fail. And likely often at first. That is what makes it a good goal.

I like how this story varies completely from the genre of the other ones you've done. You really have a broad spread in your imagination!

Nice drawing! Love the designs and the hint of something about to happen... the tiny little lifted corner. Well done.

Great story just in the drawing. Is he giving us a wink or the evil eye. One never knows with that intricate character.

Great drawing.

Great drawing, love his nose and expression. I think he's going for a trip very soon.

Hilarious! I like how seeing the carpet twitch was a second read for me! so funny. The only thing I wish for is that the pattern on the carpet went back into perspective like the edge of the carpet does. Great expression on your character!

This looks great! Did you pen this from scratch or did you pencil it in first? I can never draw anything with just raw pen. I would love to see this colored, especially the rug.
