The Ongoing Project

Here's some stuff I thought I'd throw online that shows my ongoing project. Just experimenting with different ways of painting this rabbit.

Frogs and Such

Here's a illustration I'm working on for a book (not written by me) called Bored of the Flies. Not much to say except that I would hate eating flies every day, too.

Flying Fish

I don't really know what's going on with me and my recent infatuation with fish, but it must have something to do with my daughter watching Finding Nemo every stinking day. At any rate, the thought somehow came to me, "Wouldn't it be cool if fish could fly?" And then I thought of all of the necessary equipment a fish would need. A fish would obviously need an oxygen tank, and he'd need some sort of propeller, but other than that, he'd probably be okay, because he has all the right equipment (i.e. fins) to steer himself. Which leads me to ask why fish haven't thought of this before. It's so stinking easy!

Thumbnail Thursday

I'm not sure if anyone else in the world has thought of this yet, but you know how there's Illustration Friday? Why can't we all do a Thumbnail Thursday which takes a little less time than a full illustration and still shows off a good idea? Well, that's what I'm attempting to do here. Here are some quick sketches I've created in the past few weeks. The submarine one and the fish are the most "thumbnail-like", in that they're only about 1.5" x 1.5" (they're blown up a little larger so you can see them better). Anyway, these little thumbnails are a ton of fun and take way less time than a real illustration. Maybe I could start my own thumbnail art company. Is there a market for that?

Da Dada Da!

The first post has now officially begun. I have to say, I think I'm becoming addicted to blogging already, and it's only been a few days since I actually started doing this. Sooo, here goes.

As you may have noticed, this blog is about my artwork, so I guess I should probably show some of that artwork. Here's the first illustration I'm going to show. I made it quite some time ago, but I still think it's pretty funny. This was for a company I used to work for called Studies Weekly. The image was for an article that discussed the importance of listening. Some people don't catch the joke. Oh well.

I might also mention that I had just read John, Paul, George, and Ben when I created this image, so you'll see the inspiration from that book here.
